“To celebrate the late John Prine’s October 10th birthday, I wanted to honor him by recording one of my favorite songs, “Speed of the Sound of Loneliness”. I have always loved John’s “kitchen table” lyricism and delivery, and this one is a wonderful example of a Prine song that casually breaks a heart. It’s not dramatic; it’s not even really melancholy. He perfectly captured a slow motion disconnect. I love how well this song does that.
