Sam Williams

Sam Williams to support Cam on her 'Oh, The Places We'll Go!' tour in Europe

Sam Williams has been announced as the support act for Cam’s ‘Oh, The Places We’ll Go!’ tour for the European dates she has locked in. Williams very much has country music running  through his veins being the son of Hank Williams Jr and will now have his first taste of European life, having never visited the continent before. Speaking about the upcoming gigs, Williams couldn’t hide his delight that he had the opportunity to venture around Europe and paid homage to Cam, who he feels very privileged to be on tour with. “I couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity,” Williams said. “I’ve never been on an official tour and I’ve never been to Europe. I’ve been manifesting the idea of it, and even writing songs about it and to have it happening feels surreal. “Cam is such a true talent and an overall graceful act and I’m so honoured she chose me to join her. I’m so eager to see new places and to get to know those abroad and I hope they’ll enjoy getting to know me, too.” Sam Williams will be supporting Cam on the following dates: September 1 – Empire Music Hall, Belfast, Northern Ireland September 4 – O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London, England September 5 – Leadmill, Sheffield, England September 6 – Manchester Academy 2, Manchester, England September 9 – Melkweg OZ, Amsterdam, Netherlands September 11 – Les Etoiles, Paris, France September 13 – Die Fabrik, Hamburg, Germany September 14 – Huxley’s Neue Welt, Berlin, Germany Tickets for those dates are available here.

Lady A

Lady Antebellum unveil new single 'Pictures' and confirm new album for 2019

Lady Antebellum have released Pictures, which is the second single from what is to be their first album under the Big Machine label later this year. You can listen to the track here. Recently, the trio – consisting of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood – released What If I Never Get Over You, which has already had over 45 million streams across the world and fans will be delighted to know that a new album is set for 2019 release. Speaking about the Pictures, Scott said that the song was written to combat the false perception that can be shown on social media, while also revealing her favourite parts of the track. “We live in a world right now, especially with social media, where everyone’s lives can look happy and pretty,” said Scott. “We wrote this song to reflect on the reality that things are more complex than that. “As good as something might look in brief moments, there are so many layers to who people really are and what’s really going on. I love the juxtaposition of how this song’s lyrics dig in while feeling laid-back and groovy.” Earlier this year, Lady Antebellum headlined C2C 2019 alongside Keith Urban and Chris Stapleton, but with a new album on the horizon, it is possible that the trio could return to the UK in 2020.

Zac Brown Band

Zac Brown Band release their latest single 'Warrior' from upcoming album

Zac Brown Band have offered another taster from their upcoming album ‘The Owl’ with the release of latest track Warrior, which pays tribute to US troops. You can see the audio video below. [wpdevart_youtube]94m_LNhut1Q[/wpdevart_youtube] The track follows Leaving Love Behind, which was released last month, as the band start to step up the promotion campaign for the new record. Speaking about the single, frontman Zac Brown explained why the single is about the troops and how he hopes that it goes some way to honouring those who choose to represent their country in that way. “Warrior is a tribute to the life-altering actions our military take on behalf of our safety and freedom every single day,” Brown said. “We’ve always supported our troops and many of our songs take time to thank them for their service, but with Warrior, we wanted to highlight the reality of what they do and how scarring it can be to so many. “We hope this does justice in honouring those who protect us at home and abroad every day.” ‘The Owl’ by Zac Brown Band is pencilled in for release on September 20.

Luke Combs

Luke Combs reveals second album release date of November 8

There will be new music from Luke Combs sooner than expected as the artist has announced that his second album will be available on November 8. Combs hasn’t long released his ‘The Prequel’ EP, but it seems he’s very much in a creative phase and the as of yet untitled new album will be a follow-up to Combs’ hugely successful debut record, ‘This One’s For You’. So far, 2019 has been a huge success for Combs as ‘This One’s For You’ is currently the most streamed country music album of the year and all five singles from ‘The Prequel’ EP all charted on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs – the first time this has happened since Johnny Cash did so in 1959. In addition, Beer Never Broke My Heart, the lead single from the EP, recently went to No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart, marking Combs’ sixth consecutive No. 1, which is a first. As of yet, there are no other details about the record, with more information to be announced at a later time.

Exclusive: TJ Walker reveals video for his new single 'Long Game'

TJ Walker has released his new single Long Game from his upcoming debut of the same name and the accompanying video for the song. You can see the video below. [wpdevart_youtube]ztqOEV7bfPw[/wpdevart_youtube] Speaking about the song, Walker stated that it is a story within a story and that the solo that exists within the song is one of Walker’s favourites from the upcoming record. “It’s a story within a story: a father tells a tale of the problems he’s experienced  owning a luxury car,” Walker said. “At first the song appears to be about the car, but I like a song to have a story with a twist. As the story plays out, it becomes clear there’s more than meets the eye. “The story of luxury car ownership may be a metaphorical one, as the son’s beautiful, expensive and high-maintenance fiancée enters the scene. What’s more, the guitar solo in this song is one of my favourites on the album.” The album itself will be available for all on November 15.

My Darling Clementine at Cathedral Arts Quarter Festival - taken by Trish Keogh-Hodgett

Review: Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival 2019, Belfast, Northern Ireland

Across various venues in Belfast, Northern Ireland between 2-12 May, Trevor Hodgett witnessed the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival and picked out his favourite four artists of the event itself Patty Griffin’s songs were thematically and stylistically wide-ranging. The empathic Had A Good Reason was inspired by Billie Holiday’s wretched childhood, for example; the currently resonant Boys From Tralee concerned immigration into the US; Bluebeard, one of several songs with a feminist sub-text, derived from a folk tale; and the music contained elements of country, folk, rock, and gospel. Where I Come From, about her home town which has been blighted by the collapse of its industries, was very affecting. Multi-instrumentalists David Pulkingham and Conrad Choucroun accompanied scintillatingly. Swearing like a particularly foul-mouthed trooper, delighting in her own outrageousness and singing with huge expressiveness, the larger-than-life Mary Coughlan, backed sensitively by a trio, captivated. Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart was sung with a chilling, heart-piercing bleakness while on Etta James’s I’d Rather Go Blind, Coughlan’s vocals conveyed depths of pain and self-loathing. A sizzlingly erotic I Want To Be Seduced lightened the mood. My Darling Clementine comprised singers Michael Weston King and Lou Dalgleish fronting a trio. Original songs like the weepie Our Race Is Won sounded like country classics. No Matter What Tammy Said(I Won’t Stand By Him) was a righteously assertive rejection of Tammy Wynette’s attitude to abusive men. Finally, fast-rising country-soul singer Yola, backed by a quintet, sang beautifully on the likes of WalkThrough Fire, a song about the redemptive power of love, which, apparently, she wrote after ending an abusive relationship.

We’ve had a really special time working on the arrangements and hope that shines through in what you hear”.
