BRELAND enlists Alana Springsteen in ‘For What It’s Worth’ duet

Bad Realm Records/Atlantic Records/Warner Music Nashville PLATINUM-seller BRELAND and Columbia Records NY/Sony Music Nashville artist-songwriter Alana Springsteen have teamed up for a striking new duet version of BRELAND’s ‘For What It’s Worth’. Listen here The regret-filled track was originally written by BRELAND with Rocky Block, Jacob Durrett and Greylan James for his 2022 debut album, CROSS COUNTRY. It received huge acclaim including being featured as Radio 2’s Album Of The Week, launching ‘For What It’s Worth’ onto the playlist at the station. The song now gets a fresh perspective with a brand-new verse co-written by Springsteen alongside GRAMMY Award-winner Liz Rose that captures the other side of the forlorn anthem. Featuring gorgeous new harmonies, tender guitars and subdued drums, the pop-country track perfectly expresses the numb feeling when a relationship ends – and the realization it was all your fault. With heavy hearts, the two emerging stars share a moment over what they once had, but ultimately find out you can’t turn back time.  “When I first put out ‘For What It’s Worth,’ the overwhelming response came from women who wished their exes would own up to their mistakes in this way,” BRELAND explains. “I immediately knew a woman’s perspective would take the song to another level. Alana Springsteen is a newer face in country music, but one that I believe people will be seeing for a long time. She sings some of my favourite breakup songs, and it felt like a natural fit to bring her in on ‘For What It’s Worth.’ Unsurprisingly, she delivered an amazing verse and added the flavour that was needed. Hopefully people appreciate our take on the song the way I do.” Looking ahead, BRELAND continues his impressive live presence in 2023 as he returns to C2C Country to Country Festival next month. He stunned audiences in London last year and he returns in 2023 to host the festival at the O2 Arena alongside Bob Harris who has been a huge champion of BRELAND. BRELAND will also be making his main stage debut at the festival. Alana Springsteen will also be performing across the weekend. C2C will also see the return of BRELAND’s highly acclaimed and star studded BRELAND & Friends show as an official C2C afterparty at the Indigo O2. Following sold out events in Nashville and London, its return to C2C is sure to be another huge highlight of the festival. He continues to make astounding strides Stateside too. This weekend he will be performing the National Anthem at the 65th running of NASCAR’s premiere event, while he will also be touring as support for Shania Twain and Walker Hayes this year. He has also been announced for a number of high profile US festivals. Check out all of BRELAND’s tour dates here.

Chase Rice

Chase Rice Earns Critical Praise for ‘I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell.’

With Friday’s release of his fourth studio album, I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, multi-Platinum singer/songwriter Chase Rice re-introduced himself to fans and critics alike, earning early praise for the standout project which he will bring to television audiences nationwide via a performance on “Fox & Friends” this Friday, Feb. 17 as well as “Tamron Hall” this coming Monday, Feb. 20.  With Rice having turned inward for inspiration and motivation on the project, that process of “chasing self-respect developed his latest, best album yet,” declares the Tennessean, noting that despite “a glass ceiling both he and the industry had imposed on his career, he’s clearly blasted through that impediment” and even remarking of standout track “Bench Seat,” “the touching country ballad could be, by the end of 2023, one of the surprise candidates for Song of the Year.” Cowboys & Indians further celebrates I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell for its “risk-taking and rule breaking approach,” proclaiming, “that gamble has paid off handsomely, resulting in vulnerable and personal music.” Billboard agrees, noting the album “refines his artistic voice,” creating an offering that is “still propulsive with arena-ready moments, but is laced with deeper, more introspective themes.” PopCulture asserts that the project is already “the best country album of the year… and everybody’s got to live up to it,” remarking that instead of following the traditional “if it’s not broke don’t fix it” approach, “Rice and his team, somehow, simultaneously broke it AND fixed it — both on purpose.” Leading U.K. music publication Entertainment Focus also has high praise for the “absolute triumph” of an album, labeling it with the first five star review of the year – an honor that took the outlet until September to award in 2022 – and remarking that “it’s a songwriter’s album and a lyricist’s album but it also does all sorts of wonderful things with melodies that are both clever and yet infectious at the same time.” In celebration of the critically acclaimed release, Rice treated fans across the country to stripped-back, and acoustic live performances of the album, beginning on release day itself. Starting in Golden, Colo. on Friday, Feb. 10, Rice stopped by Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies, to perform atop the dugout before visiting the Coors Brewery for a special performance in honor of the album’s cover photo featuring his late father, Daniel Rice, with two Coors Banquets in hand. Rice then traveled to Phoenix, Ariz. to take part in the Super Bowl festivities with an album release show for football fans on Saturday, Feb. 11, before returning home to Nashville to grace the Grand Ole Opry stage last night, Feb. 14. In addition to treating the full Opry audience to new songs “Bench Seat,” “Way Down Yonder” and recent No. 1 hit “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.,” Rice also performed a post-Opry show for purchasers of the album, treating those fans to live renditions of album cuts “If I Were Rock & Roll,” “All Dogs Go To Hell,” “Life Part Of Livin’” and “I Hate Cowboys,” plus his triple-Platinum No. 1 “Eyes On You” and the Diamond-certified smash hit “Cruise,” which Rice co-wrote. Soon, fans will get to hear even more of the new music live on Rice’s Way Down Yonder Tour, set to visit iconic venues such as Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Boston’s House of Blues and Athens’ Georgia Theatre beginning March 3.

Matt Stell

Matt Stell is One of Us with Anticipated EP

Catapulting onto the Country music scene as a “thoughtful songwriter and equally compelling artist,” according to American Songwriter, with the back-to-back #1s of 2X PLATINUM smash “Prayed For You” and GOLD “Everywhere But On,” RECORDS Nashville MULTI-PLATINUM artist Matt Stell “finds his lane” with EP, ONE OF US, available today (2/10) across all streaming platforms and digital retailers. Listen here.Speaking exclusively with American Songwriter, Stell digs deep into the fabric of the American heartland on the six-track collection. Pushing beyond catchy hooks and twangy trends, it’s a hard-hitting project with a gentle heart, as it’s packed with insight and intelligence, passionate vocals, and smart turns-of-phrase. Chest-thumping hell-raisers drive down memory-lane ballads, as ringing acoustic guitars and punching digital beats combine to showcase a life lived on Country terms – and all with a deep sense of respect. An Arkansas native, Stell slips easily back into his roots for ONE OF US, matching lived experience with universal truth. Three tunes were co-written by Stell with hitmakers Jessie Jo Dillon, Chase McGill, Randy Montana, and more, while others were sourced from the likes of Michael Hardy and Tyler Hubbard. Exploring themes like aching hearts and nights that hurt so good, or big dreams that drive small-town kids from home, featured songs include Stell’s latest single “Man Made,” hard-rocking power ballad “One Of Us,” and a jacked-up romance in “Shut The Truck Up” – which MusicRow hails, “Stell has always been a fine country communicator, and this well-constructed song gives him another worthy platform.” Each one reveals something different, and Stell approaches it all with genuine sincerity, plus a thickly layered modern-Country sound of his own design.

Darius Rucker Releases Powerful Rendition of “Lift Me Up”

Showcasing the rich baritone celebrated by Billboard as “one of the most distinctive voices of country’s modern era,” Diamond-certified star Darius Rucker offers a powerful take on Rihanna’s Oscar-nominated “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” theme song, “Lift Me Up,” with his version of the anthemic ballad available everywhere now. Listen HERE.   Written by Rihanna together with filmmaker Ryan Coogler, composer Ludwig Göransson and Nigerian singer Tems as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, who starred in the original “Black Panther,” the song plays over the end credits of the film, which is where Rucker first fell in love with its message.   “I’ve been a huge fan of comics since I was a kid, and I love all of the Marvel movies, so I couldn’t wait to see ‘Wakanda Forever’ when it came out a few months ago,” explains Rucker. “I was so moved by this song playing at the end of the movie and I felt inspired to try my hand at singing it. I hope y’all love this version we created as much as I do.”   The release comes as Rucker puts the finishing touches on his forthcoming album, Carolyn’s Boy, and follows the news earlier this week that his Riverfront Revival Music Festival will return to Charleston this fall for its second year, with lineups for the October 7-8 event to be announced soon. Early access tickets are available now via RiverfrontRevival.com.

Comedian Henry Cho Welcomed Into Grand Ole Opry Family

Comedian Henry Cho was officially inducted into the Grand Ole Opry family tonight by his friend and Opry favorite Vince Gill. Gill said to Cho, “I just want to say congrats. And to encourage you to come out here. That’s the best thing you can do for us and that’s why you are becoming a member; because you show up. And when we’re laughing there’s nothing wrong in this world.” Gill then called out Opry members John Conlee, Ben Isaacs, Don Schlitz and Steve Wariner to join him for the induction moment. After presenting Cho with an Opry Member Award, Gill closed, “What you get from this place is friendships, and those will mean more than the funniest joke you will ever write or the biggest hit we will ever have. So welcome to our family.” As the crowd rose to its feet Cho said, “Thank y’all. For all of you that stood up, I hope you get out of here quickly and the ones that didn’t, I hope you get stuck in traffic. This is a great honor, and I can’t even put it into words.
