Marina Allen teases her new album with ‘Swinging Doors’
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Marina Allen has unveiled her latest single, ‘Swinging Doors’, providing a tantalising glimpse into her upcoming third studio album, ‘Eight Pointed Star’. Building on the success of her previous release, ‘Red Cloud’, the new release showcases her signature blend of folk and Americana, married together with introspective lyricism and captivating melodies. ‘Swinging Doors’ explores the theme of embracing new beginnings and the excitement of embarking on uncharted paths. Reflecting on her creative process for the album, Allen shares insights into her lyrical inspirations, particularly her exploration of love in its various forms. She remarks, “I wrote more about love than I ever have before on this record. Not even necessarily romantic love. ‘Swinging Doors’ is a trust fall. But instead of self-reflection, it’s more about experientially discovering what that means.” Drawing from her own experiences and familial heritage, Allen plays on the themes of introspection and renewal throughout ‘Eight Pointed Star’. With producer Chris Cohen at the helm, the album presents a full-band affair, where Allen’s vocals soar over a backdrop of rich instrumentation, including slide guitar melodies and acoustic thrums.
