UK West Coast Folk Festival will be in Blackpool in 2024

Coming to Blackpool’s Winter Gardens this January, The UK West Coast Folk Festival 2024 is set to bring 33 acts across 3 stages to the iconic seaside resort, topped off by a rare headline set from the legendary guitarist Richard Thompson. From January 12th – January 14th, Blackpool will be taken over by some of the finest purveyors of British Folk, including sets by the incredible Eddi Reader, Tom Robinson Band, Cara Dillon, The Webb Sisters, Kiki Dee & Carmelo Luggeri, Dean Friedman and many more. In tribute to the legacy of British Folk Rock, the weekend will be topped off by a rare headline set from the legendary guitarist Richard Thompson. Holding a coveted spot in Rolling Stone’s “Greatest Guitarists of All Time”, Thompson counts Lifetime Achievement Awards from both the Americana Music Association and the BBC amongst his many accolades. Having performed at Glastonbury earlier this year, this will be a rare appearance from an icon of British Folk Rock; a show not to be missed. Three time winners of Scotland’s “Live Act of the Year” Award, Skerryvore are also set to appear, having evolved from their humble beginnings into one of the country’s leading forces in a thriving live music scene. Celebrating over 40 years in the business – and having developed into one of popular music’s most thrilling and affecting performers – Eddi Reader has joined the lineup too, fresh from an extensive UK tour with Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra. She’ll be joined by the equally storied Tom Robinson Band, alongside newer and emerging talent of the genre, in the form of BBC Folk Singer of the Year, Bella Hardy, as well as Joshua Burnell and Honey & The Bear.     To read more exclusive articles and latest news, see our last issue here. Austin Moody releases a cover of country classic “Tennessee Christmas”

Country music artist and East Tennessee native, Austin Moody, announced the release of his version of ‘Tennessee Christmas’ a song rooted in the traditions of country music, paying homage to the genre’s cultural and regional influences. Austin Moody’s rendition of ;Tennessee Christmas’ stays true to the country music tradition while offering a fresh take on the holiday theme written by Gary Chapman and Amy Grant. ‘Tennessee Christmas’ is featured on an EP project titled ‘Old Fashioned Christmas’, a collaborative collection of classic holiday song covers. The 6-song EP was executive produced by Chris Radomski, the founder of Duke Spirits, with production led by Austin Moody and co-produced by Mitch Furr and Elisha Hoffman. “My childhood Christmas memories go back to the Appalachian Mountains in East Tennessee. Since moving away, I have traveled to many amazing places, but nothing comes close to spending Christmas in Tennessee,” shared Austin Moody. “This song always takes me home for Christmas and to cherished memories.” “At a moment when Country music seems to be working through an identity crisis, Austin reminds us that its genesis is simply pure and honest,” stated CMA, ACM, and Grammy Award-winning producer, Keith Stegall. Acclaimed singer/songwriter and award-winning producer, – Mac McAnally added, “Austin Moody is a rare combination of a bunch of good things. He reveres traditional country music and has a natural connection with classic rock and roll ALA Tom Petty. Put that together with an all-American work ethic and blue-collar spirit and you get somebody you want to know with some music you want to hear.”   To read more exclusive articles and latest news, see our last issue here. Chase Rice brings ‘I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell’ to Canada on tour

Following a summer of sold-out dates on his own headlining run, plus appearances with Jelly Roll and Old Dominion in arenas across the U.S. this fall, Diamond-certified songwriter and multi-Platinum star in his own right Chase Rice now brings his critically acclaimed album ‘I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell’ to fans in Canada with the ‘Get Western’ 2024 Tour. Kicking off in Vancouver, the run will visit 11 Canadian cities including Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal and more throughout February. Rice will also preface the run with a headlining show in Seattle, Wash. earlier in the month. Rising star and Canada native Owen Riegling joins as direct support across most dates, with Fort Worth-based singer-songwriter Palmer Anthony joining in Seattle and Vancouver. “From radio to live shows, Canada has always been so good to us,” notes Rice. “I had the chance to explore even more of the beautiful country during my time off from touring earlier this summer, and I can’t wait to come back in the new year for these shows with our Canadian fans.” Fans will be treated to performances of Rice’s chart-topping hits as well as songs off his latest album, ‘I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell’. Recorded during an immersive two-week period at Rice’s farm outside Nashville with producer Oscar Charles and a live band using a makeshift recording setup, the album showcases a more raw, vulnerable side of Rice’s discography.   Get Western 2024 Tour: Feb. 10              Seattle, Wash.                                  Showbox SoDo Feb. 13              Vancouver, British Columbia          Vogue Theater Feb. 15              Calgary, Alberta                                The Palace Theater Feb. 16              Edmonton, Alberta                            Midway Feb. 17              Saskatoon, Saskatchewan                 Coors Event Centre Feb. 21              Sault St. Marie, Ontario                    Machine Shop Feb. 22              Sudbury, Ontario                               The Grand Feb. 24              London, Ontario                                London Music Hall Feb. 26              Toronto, Ontario                                Danforth Music Hall Feb. 27              Kingston, Ontario                              Grand Theatre Feb. 28              Ottawa, Ontario                                 Bronson Centre Feb. 29              Montreal, Quebec                              Théâtre Beanfield   To read more exclusive articles and latest news, see our last issue here. Charles Esten announces 2024 UK/Europe tour

Multi-talented singer-songwriter and actor Charles Esten has today announced that he will be returning to the UK/Europe in April 2024, for headline shows in the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and Norway. Commenting on his return to the UK and Europe, Esten shared, “Some of my earliest musical performances were way back in 1991 playing Buddy Holly in the hit West End musical ‘BUDDY’. That’s when I began my love affair with UK audiences who – quite literally – danced in the aisles. Four years ago, I was pretty heartbroken when the first COVID lockdowns meant that my debut C2C O2 Arena headline performance was to be cancelled, and ever since that day, I have been dreaming of and praying for a return to the UK. That dream first came true in October when I was blessed to be a part of the amazing Nashville Reunion Tour. Then, as that was successfully wrapping up, I received the confirmed schedule for my own return solo tour. And I damn near cried. I am chuffed, over the moon, and thrilled to bits to be returning to play my music in the country that for two magical years, I got my start in and called my home.” Check out the full tour dates below: Charles Esten’s 2024 UK/European Tour Dates: Sat., 20 Apr. – Usher Hall | Edinburgh, UK Mon., 22 Apr. – Royal Concert Hall | Glasgow, UK Wed., 24 Apr. – The Glasshouse at TheSage | Gateshead, UK Fri., 26 Apr. – Palladium | London, UK Sat., 27 Apr. – O2 Academy | Bristol, UK Mon., 29 Apr. – Lowry Lyric Theatre | Salford, UK Tue., 30 Apr. – Town Hall | Birmingham, UK Thu., 2 May – Tivoli/Vredenburg – Grote Zaal | Utrecht, Netherlands Fri., 3 May – Fabrik | Hamburg, Germany Sat., 4 May – Im Wizemann Halle | Stuttgart, Germany Mon., 6 May – Circus Krone | Munich, Germany Tue., 7 May – Carlswerk Victoria | Cologne, Germany Thu., 9 May – DR Studio 2 | Copenhagen, Denmark Fri., 10 May – Kulturkirken Jakob | Oslo, Norway The tour will follow the January 26th release of his highly anticipated independent debut album, ‘Love Ain’t Pretty’. A project more than ten years in the making, the album began taking shape when Esten first arrived in Music City to play ‘Deacon Claybourne’ on ABC/CMT’s ‘Nashville’. Esten explores life, love, and the passing of time through the lens of a travelled and tested everyman, who has never lost his innate sense of wonder, or his wide-open soul over the course of all fourteen songs. Working in tandem with hitmakers like Jon Nite, Eric Paslay, Gary Burr, Leslie Satcher, and more, Esten co-wrote all tracks on the forthcoming album. Vividly detailed and filled with the emotional daring of a celebrated storyteller, Charles dives into wide-ranging themes of earth-shattering romance, big-picture reflection, and more. Dustin Lynch scores his ninth number one with ‘Stars Like Confetti’

Dustin Lynch shines atop the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart this week with ‘Stars Like Confetti’ Marking his ninth US career number one on country radio, he also reigns number one on the Countrytown Hot 50 in Australia.   Mixing nostalgia and the passion of young love into a blast of upbeat country-rock, the Josh Thompson, Thomas Rhett, and Zach Crowell-penned track is tailor-made for his live shows. Also produced by Crowell, the ringing guitars and classic dobro meet a pounding pulse as the heartbeat to Lynch’s bursting vocal, full of energy and ready to move fans. Likewise, the Chris Hicky-directed music video shows Lynch in his element, surrounded by festival-goers from Country Jam USA 2022 (Eau Claire, WI) as the life of the party – like he’s done for the past 10 years. Whether connecting before the concert, thrilling a crowd onstage, or creating the soundtrack to a starry-eyed couple’s love story, the proven entertainer has never been more magnetic or more in tune with the moments that define forever-kind of memories. First heard on Lynch’s 2022 release ‘Blue In The Sky (Broken Bow Records)’, which delivered his previous smash hit and six-week number collaboration ‘Thinking ‘Bout You (feat. MacKenzie Porter)’ and ‘Party Mode,’ Lynch’s brand-new statement-making sixth studio album, ‘Killed The Cowboy’, is out now.         To read more exclusive articles and latest news, see our last issue here. Mary Gauthier’s career retrospective to start in 2024

In these unique career retrospective shows, Mary will perform a selection of audience favourites from all eleven of her studio records, accompanied by her partner, Jaimee Harris, who will also open the shows.   Like the troubadours of old, Mary will sing her much loved songs under the spotlight, telling stories of her thirty years of performing her own music around the world, an experience that has helped her understand and personally experience the redemptive power of songs and songwriting. From spending opening night of her restaurant drunk in a Dorchester, MA. jail cell to hearing her song ‘I Drink’ on Bob Dylan’s ‘Theme Time Radio Show.’ From serving Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings oyster po-boys at her Cajun restaurant in Boston to sharing a booking agent and festival stages with the incredible duo. From spending her 18th birthday sitting in a Salina, KS jail cell to standing next to John Prine at the GRAMMYs. What reads as a screenplay for a Hollywood blockbuster is a life actually lived by the true troubadour, Mary Gauthier.   Carrying on Woody Guthrie’s legacy, Mary continues to inspire audiences around the world with the simple idea that a guitar and a song are the strongest of steady weapons on the path to both personal and universal freedom.   Her latest album, ‘Dark Enough To See The Stars’, was released to glowing reviews in 2022, including The Sun who said: “Navigating our complicated world is hard but made a little easier by Gauthier.”  And Entertainment Focus, who declared Mary “One of the great storytellers and songwriters of our age.” Her recent book ‘Saved by a Song’, excerpts from which will feature in these shows, was named as a “must read” by Rolling Stone Magazine.   For over thirty years, Mary Gauthier has turned to songs and stories to help her untangle the traumatic mysteries of her life — most notably adoption trauma and addiction. Not long after getting sober, she began to use songwriting as a superhighway to find purpose in her life. Music and song helped her heal from the wounds that made her an addict. She then used her personal experience to help wounded veterans and their families tell their stories in song. Thirty-four years sober now, Mary brings her long-term recovery to the stage in this special show to talk about alchemy, redemption, and the art of songwriting as a form of salvation.     To read more exclusive articles and latest news, see our last issue here. Lainey Wilson announces ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’ as her next single

GRAMMY-nominated singer songwriter Lainey Wilson has announced ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’ as her next single, following Wilson’s television debut performance of the song at the 57th Annual CMA Awards, in Nashville, Tennessee last week. As the third single off her critically acclaimed, award-winning album, ‘Bell Bottom Country’, ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’ is a reflective tale of Wilson’s life; “barefoot and bareback”. The soulful yet Southern track, accompanied by Wilson’s signature sound, blends elements of Western, Rock, and Americana, to bring forth a modern but stil traditional country song as an ode to her roots. Wilson also earned her first ever nominations for the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards last week. Wilson’s ‘Bell Bottom Country’ landed a nomination for Best Country Album and her collaboration on Jelly Roll’s ‘Save Me’ scored a nod for Country Duo/Group Performance. These two nominations follow on the heels of her five wins including Entertainer Of The Year and Album Of The Year at this year’s CMA Awards.     To read more exclusive articles and latest news, see our last issue here.
