Ferris & Sylvester

Ferris & Sylvester release live version of 'Knock You Down'

Ferris & Sylvester have released a live version of their recent single Knock You Down, which got the stripped back treatment at Real World Studios. You can watch the video below. [wpdevart_youtube]mABaJ5jc4Bc[/wpdevart_youtube] Knock You Down features on ‘I Should Be On a Train’, which is the latest EP released by the duo – made up of Issy Ferris and Archie Sylvester – but the pair have opted to give it a slightly different twist. Speaking to EARMILK about the new version, the pair stated that they had always wanted to record something at Real World Studios before opening up on how it came to fruition in this format. “We’d always wanted to record something at Real World,” the duo explained. “We were in the studio’s smaller live room called The Wood Room and everything looked and sounded warm, lively and exciting. It felt really interesting in this new set up, making it perhaps more melancholy and thoughtful. “We waited until it got dark, cleared the room of everything but this amazing grand piano and just sang it together. In the spirit of a live session, we wanted it to be totally transparent, so we shot it with one camera angle. “There isn’t anything to hide behind in that environment, we just had to trust ourselves in the moment. We’d never done a live session on piano before, so it felt nerve-racking and exciting when the engineer hit record. It certainly had a magic to it and we hope that translates in the video.” ‘I Should Be On a Train’ was released by Ferris & Sylvester on October 2 and can be listened to here.

Katy Hurt

Katy Hurt announces two socially distanced full band shows for November

Katy Hurt has announced that she and her full band will be performing two socially distanced shows at the end of November, one in London and one in Lewes. Tickets for London are available here and for Lewes here. The event is being promoted by Modern Age Music Roots. Hurt is one of the UK’s most exciting country music acts, especially on the live circuit, with her performances at The Long Road Festival and C2C in particular wowing many. In addition, Hurt also impressed Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis to the point he put her on the bill for Pilton Party 2018, which was headlined by former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher. Back in March 2019, Hurt released her most recent EP ‘Unfinished Business’, of which the title track and See Ya Later have both racked up over 100,000 streams each on Spotify. In light of the restrictions, tickets will be sold by tables for groups of 2-4 in Lewes and 2-6 in London, while attendees will be subjected to a temperature check upon arrival and will be required to wear face masks in the live room. As well as this, track in trace will be in operation and there will be hand sanitiser stations dotted around the venues. Katy Hurt will be playing: November 26 – Amersham Arms, London, England November 27 – Con Club, Lewes, England
