Holloway Road announce the release of their new EP, ROOTS

Following up from the release of their single Little Harder and two performances at C2C in London, UK country-pop duo Holloway Road have announced the release of their second EP, ROOTS. The collection will see Holloway Road going back through previous genres they’ve written and played over the years – their aim was to fuse a little bit of everything into the tracks in one way or another. Robert & Jack locked themselves in their home studio for a couple of months, until they could emerge with five brand new songs. The tracks included their first ‘slow jam’.  In their own words: “It’s the most personal record we’ve made to date, but it’s still fun! We had some songs written, but then some (female related) things happened and we wrote new ones, which turned out to be even better material. Love can be a horrible thing but we’ve realised it helps make a kick-ass record! It doesn’t matter if we sell 5 or 5,000 copies – we’ll still be proud of it. We’ve made the record we wanted to make.” ROOTS was self-recorded; produced; mixed and mastered, and is an independent release. The EP will be released on April 18 through digital stores but a limited first press CD will be available at their UK tour dates with Dexeter. James Mckean and the Blueberry Moon

The megalomaniac blues of James McKean and the Blueberry Moon’s previous single The Redeemer garnered radio airplay on Tom Robinson’s Saturday evening BBC 6 Music show, led to a live session and interview on Will Gompertz’s BBC Oxford programme, and was included on the BBC Introducing Mixtape. The song’s “intense atmospheric quality” led to comparisons with Cohen, Waits, Dylan and Dr John. New single I Long To Make Your Dreams Come True is cut from a very different cloth… It springs along on a comparatively jaunty folk-jazz groove, with something of the Caledonian soul of ‘70s Van Morrison. As on The Redeemer, long-time collaborator Ross Palmer and I are ably supported by Hoatzin, who swap their own brooding, twisting alt-rock sound to provide violin, double bass and drum accompaniment. My brother Daniel provides the dextrous lead guitar. It’s available now as a free download from theblueberrymoon.bandcamp.com. The track comes backed by two new b sides: the minor key rock of Long Forgotten Winter, plus a cover of the old gospel number I Was There When It Happened, popularised by Johnny Cash in late 1950s.   New album No Peace For The Wicked will be available on CD and download from Sunday 27th March 2016. We’ll be launching the album with a gig at The Gladstone in Borough, ‘the coolest little pub in South London’ – Time Out.

NO SINNER release new album 'Old Habits Die Hard'

Release new album ‘Old Habits Die Hard’ Provogue/Mascot Label Group Out: 10th June 2016   You can see the album trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PBj0iFfUCo   No Sinner will be releasing their highly anticipated new album Old Habits Die Hard on 10th June through Provogue/Mascot Label Group (Joe Bonamassa, Black Stone Cherry, Monster Truck, Beth Hart)   2014s Boo Hoo Hoo was a classic debut album experience from Vancouver’s powerhouse frontwoman Colleen Rennison. The sound of a young singer’s first foray into the rock’n’roll world. The result of years spent fronting cover bands with players 10 years her senior, writing with musicians more seasoned and eager to give direction. Boo Hoo Hoo was raucous, rowdy and filled with soul and danger. It was the sound of youth careening into the adventure of life with all the screaming tires and heartache yet to come down the road. It was the sound of a wild haired girl riding into the horizon on the back of her boyfriend’s motorcycle.   On Old Habits Die Hard, Colleen isn’t sitting on the back of the motorcycle anymore. She’s barrelling down the highway, her grip on the throttle, and you better believe you’re going to hear her coming from miles away.   There’s a reason behind the acclaim that met No Sinner following their debut release via Mascot Label Group. Classic Rock Magazine called Colleen, “an early contender for ball-breaking warrior princess of 2014″ and Blues & Soul wrote, “No Sinner are a rare gem of a find.” Their teeth-gritted brand of blues and rock brought the young band to showcases at SXSW, European tours, sessions for Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2 and The Team Rock Classic Rock Magazine Show , club shows followed with Reignwolf, Bass Drum of Death and Monster Truck. They were selected by Amazon as a New and Emerging Artist and both Classic Rock Magazine and The Blues featured then as one of the Artisits to Watch 2014 while Noisey exclaimed the band “oozes sex appeal.”   No Sinner isn’t Colleen’s first experience in the spotlight either. She pursued acting first, landing supporting roles in Sci-Fi shows such as Stargate SG-1,  The Outer Limits, Highlander and Poltergeist: The Legacy as well as major Hollywood films such as Unforgettable, The Story of Us, Boot Camp, Mr Rice’s Secret starring such A-listers as Ray Liotta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Bruce Willis, Mila Kunis and David Bowie. But seizing the spotlight with a microphone never left her mind. It’s why Rennison would hold notes for far too long in music class, why she’d sing in the middle of a soccer field when she was supposed to keep someone from scoring, and why she ended up running away from boarding school and sneaking into open mic nights when she was 15. Now, with all the experiences of the road, tour vans, cheap hotels and a hundred booze stained bars behind them, No Sinner is emerging as a fully realized rock’n’roll band with Colleen fearlessly at the helm.   Old Habits Die Hard was Executively Produced by Ben Kaplan who has worked with artists as diverse as Biffy Clyro, Shakira, Gallows, Rise Against and Atreyu and sees the band comes howling out of the gates. Screaming harmonica over a churning rhythm section set the pace on the track Leadfoot, as Colleen snarls “You are mine. For the taking.”  Colleen isn’t afraid to eschew the stereotypes behind being frontwoman either.  “Janis Joplin and Etta James are such an easy comparison,” she explains, “but I’m doing Robert Plant up there too. It’s a bit of an androgynous album—a rock ‘n’ roll odyssey through heartbreak and debauchery, good times and bad.”   It’s a theme that runs through the album. Blurring the lines between good and evil, man or woman, saint or sinner. No Sinner uses rock’n’roll to pummel through the walls of societal norms. As Colleen explains “I live and breathe rock ‘n’ roll. It’s a disease to want to push the envelope, to be an enemy to yourself at times, to want so much from the world that sometimes you can’t even stand to be in it. I never really felt like I belonged anywhere, and then I found the people that felt like me, that woke up every morning with a hole in their heart that can only be filled by music.”   Old Habits Die Hard is a more accurate portrayal of where Rennison’s head is at now than the songs on Boo Hoo Hoo. Or as she puts it, “It’s like the difference between your high school grad photo and your first mug shot.”   She brings it all home on the track Saturday Night. “Tell you once babe, I’ll tell you twice, I’ve got more to give than sugar and spice.”
